About the League:
Round 4 October 2024
The final round of the Challenge Bouldering League on October 26th was a fantastic success, hosted at the Sliema Scouts Headquarters, where ClimbMT administers the small bouldering wall. The event saw an enthusiastic turnout and impressive performances from both youth and adult climbers. The variety of freshly set routes provided an exciting and challenging environment for all participants. Congratulations to our overall winners, Luca Giglio and Julia Vella!
A huge thank you to all the volunteers who made this event possible, with special recognition to young George Tonna, who, at just 10 years old, showed remarkable dedication as a judge for three waves of the competition. We’re also grateful to our talented route setters, Mathias and Dan, for their hard work in crafting engaging routes throughout the league.
Lastly, thank you to the climbers and their supportive families for their commitment to the league. We look forward to seeing everyone at the upcoming Bouldering National Championships on December 7th!

Round 3 May 2024
The third round of the Challenge National Bouldering League took place on Saturday, May 11th, 2024, at the newly inaugurated outdoor bouldering wall of QSI International School in Attard. This event marked the first competition to be held at this state-of-the-art facility, drawing climbers and spectators alike.
With a robust turnout, the competition saw participation from 23 female and 28 male climbers, each demonstrating impressive skill and determination across challenging routes. A photo gallery can be found here.

Round 2 March 2024
The Second Round of the Challenge National Bouldering League took place on Saturday, March 2nd, 2024, at Ä ebla Climbing in Mrieħel. In a notable addition to the format, this round featured the introduction of the Adult League, enriching the competitive landscape of the event. This round was hosted as part of the Winter Climbing competition organised by Ä ebla.
The event, organised by ClimbMT in collaboration with Ä ebla climbing, attracted participants eager to showcase their skills on the bouldering wall. In addition to competitors, the support of volunteers was instrumental in ensuring the smooth running of the event. ClimbMT and Ä ebla extended their gratitude to all volunteers who contributed their time and effort to make the day a success.
Participation for the second round of the Challenge Boulder league increased to 34 youths, with a split of 13 girls and 21 boys. The growth of the league is really encouraging and we look forward to the day when the split will be equal among boys and girls. A full photo gallery can be found on our Facebook page. Round 1 December 2023
In December 2023 ClimbMT successfully hosted the inaugural round of the Challenge National Bouldering League. This marked the beginning of an exciting journey for aspiring young climbers; building on the experience gained during the first National Bouldering Championship which took place in September 2023.

The Challenge National Bouldering League for the year 2024 is set to captivate climbing enthusiasts with four thrilling bouldering competitions scheduled for December 2023, March, April, and June 2024. These competitions serve as crucial stepping stones, demanding participants to accumulate points across all four League events to determine the League Champions for the respective age brackets. The events are being hosted by ClimbMT in collaboration with Ä ebla climbing.
The first leg of the Challenge National Bouldering League took place on Saturday, December 2nd, 2023, at the 1st Sliema Scouts headquarters; on a small bouldering wall administered by ClimbMT. The competition unfolded from 09:00 to 16:00, with each age group allocated a dedicated two-hour time slot. The routes for the competition were set by Mathias Gennesseaux of MG Climbing and Amy Meilinger of Ä ebla.
A total of 26 youths with a split of 15 boys and 11 girls, competed in this first round. The event not only showcased exceptional climbing prowess but also emphasised the inclusive spirit and camaraderie within the climbing community.

For young climbers aspiring to clinch the National League title, attendance and active participation in each of the four League Cup competitions are imperative. Each competition contributes significantly to the overall points tally, ultimately determining the contenders for the grand title. ClimbMT remains committed to fostering a vibrant climbing culture and nurturing the next generation of climbers through events like the Youth League Cup. The next round of the Challenge National Bouldering League is scheduled for Saturday 11th May 2024.
Time: Waves will be between 09:00-18:00 (no finals)
Venue: QSI International School, Triq Durumblat, Ħ’Attard.
It is important that those who competed in League 1 (Adult) and Youth 1 & 2, continue on to do the remaining League comps, to build on their points.
There is also the option of volunteering on the day as a judge or helper. So get in touch!

This is the category for our young boulderers, split into five age aligned tiers as follows:
- Youth E – Year of Birth 2015 / 2016
- Youth D – Year of Birth 2013 / 2014
- Youth C – Year of Birth 2011 / 2012
- Youth B – Year of Birth 2009 / 2010
- Youth A – Year of Birth 2007 / 2008
- Junior – for youth born 2005/2006
2. Young at heart (OPEN)
This is the category for those climbers out there who want to get a taste of the competition but no longer qualify as youths… at least not when it comes to their date of birth! This is the category for adults who would like to join in the fun but cannot compete.
